, originally called Palmtop was founded in 1991 by three Dutchmen and was privately owned until 2005. The company has grown rapidly, and now employs 3,500 in 17 locations producing annual revenues of over €1.7bn (2007). In 2008 they acquired ‘Tele Atlas’, which provides street-level mapping data for 73 countries. TomTom is the clear market leader in vehicle GPS navigation devices, but also produces software for PDA’s and Smartphones. Their mission is to create solutions that are easy-to-use, innovative, safe and represent excellent value for money for the consumer and this is evident across their wide and feature-rich product range.
